Weekly summary_16 Oct 2020

Hello Parents!

Thank your students for a wonderful week - here's an update of what we've accomplished and what is outstanding/ongoing in Grade 9 Vocal.

This is what should be done by now:

1. Composition #1: composition completed in class; two reflection questions to answer.

2. Composition #2:composition completed in class; two reflection questions to answer.

3. Vocalise assignment: score analysis is due on 28 Oct but may be submitted at any time...this work should be completed by now as we've done this all in class. You are to upload images of your work to Google Drive, and then insert the images on the Vocalise assignment document from Google Classroom.

4. Solo project: All of part 1, "The analysis" is due on 28 Oct but may be submitted at any time...this work should be completed by now as we've done this all in class. You are to upload images of your work to Google Drive, and then insert the images on the Vocalise assignment document from Google Classroom.

5. Medieval Instrument project: reminder to those students did not submit a completed self-evaluation...please make a copy of the document, then complete the self-evaluation, and then attach the completed self-evaluation to the Google Classroom assignment.

6. Breezin' Thru Theory: there are still outstanding drills in BTT and there are some folks who haven't achieved the minimum "2 Hearts" on all drills. There will be an entry in your SER for these drills so I encourage you to complete an missed work.

7. Check your SER's for any missing work - in particular, if you see an "R" you need to go back to the assignment and read the comment(s) to know what is missing.

As always, you have ongoing practice that should be happening daily:

1. SightReadingFactory - there haven't been assignments this week but you should still be doing daily "Free Play". Several of you still have outstanding SRF assignments from our last week together...please complete these ASAP as there will be an entry in your SER for these assignments.

2. Warm-ups - physical and vocal...please just use the routine that we use in class on a daily basis.

3. Scales - you have now been assigned ALL MAJOR SHARP KEY SIGNATURES AND SCALES which means you have 7 scales to practise daily.

4. Vocalise - use your Noteflight learning track to practice...being sure to use the IPA vowels, your breathing plan, and exaggerated dynamics.

5. "Reality" - use your Noteflight learning track to practice ...being sure to use your breathing plan and exaggerated dynamics.

Lots of work to do - it's your job to take control and make the magic happen!

Have a great weekend!

    Mr. C.
